7 Dots Studio March Challenge Entry

Hi Everyone,

The challenge for March for 7 Dots Studios is Fly Away.

And here is my entry:

Here are some close ups:

To create this page I started with my favourite stencil, by Finabair aka Anna Dabrowska. My process can be seen here in my Moulding Paste versus Joint Compound Tutorial.

I then added a piece of Night's Fever paper from the Dreamer Collection as my base for the remainder of my page. I ruffed up the edges of the paper with my Prima Distresser. I added butter muslin under my photo, the butterfly is from a ring I bought at my local cheapie shop and the jeweled pieces are from a pair of shoes I bought at my local op-shop. I then added my my title.

See you all again soon.

Life.Paper.Scrapbook February Mood Board Challenge Entry

Hi Everyone,

Here is the Life.Paper.Scrapbook February Mood Board:

And here is my entry:

Here is a close up:

The inspiration came from an online class I'm taking at the moment called Pop and Colors. To create this page I started by gesso-ing parts of the base cardstock. Next I added water soluble oil pastel and gelatos and then rubbed them to blend them together. I then added strips of washi tape. After that dried I held the page so that one short side was to the top and sprayed spray ink onto the gesso-ed area and let it run down. I kept going until I was happy with the result. I repeated with the second side. After that had dried naturally (I really wanted the concentration of color). I then cut a circle shape as a template and used painters low tack tape to hold a stencil in place and added embossing paste, then the embossing powder over the top and setting with the heat gun. I then added all the splatters. When that was dry I finished my page.

See you all again soon.

Scrap Our Stash Stash-A-Thon Birthday Challenge #1

Hi Everyone,
This month is Scrap Our Stash's birthday month and they are having a month long celebration.

Today today is the first day of challenges. Challenge #1 is: cake/layering. 3 or more layers of paper and/or embellishments.

And here is my entry:

Here is are some close ups:

To create this page I started by gesso-ing my base cardstock. While that was drying I created a heart shaped template from cardstock. I then decided where I wanted the hearts and drew around the template. I then set about sorting some leftovers from a previous project into larger pieces to use later and then the smaller bits I then cut them up into small strips to use. I then created the heart on the left by gluing the strips down in the heart shape, cutting where needed to keep the shape. I also used some Kaiser Craft Collectables mixed in for added interest. I then added a thin layer of gesso over the completed heart. I then worked with three complimentary shades of spray inks to color both hearts until I was happy with how it looked. I then added splatters from all three colors over the page. As this dried I created the cluster of layers under my photo and stuck them all together. I then backed the whole piece in some scrap cardstock to make it more stable, then added rows of foam tape under it to pop it up off the page. I then added it to the page along with my title and journalling.

See you all again soon.
