Weekly Round-Up for Week Two

Hi Everyone,

I have decided that if I have something like JumpStart 2014 going on, in any particular month I will have a separate post for everything related to it.

I will then do a full round up post for everything, including the class/activity and all other projects, even if they already have their own post. Hopefully I will have time to create outside these and I can post them here too.

Life.Paper.Scrapbook Color Challenge. Unfortunately, I missed the deadline but just a minute or two, I will do better next time :)

I also completed the Skissedilla Challenge #231. I really enjoyed doing this page and had fun experimenting with using Liquid Nails for the texture in the background.

See you all again soon.

Weekly Round-Up for Week Two ~ Creative JumpStart 2014

Hi Everyone,

A full week of CJS2014 this week and I have loved every moment of it.

Jan 6th ~ Today was a Give-away day for Liquitex.

Jan 7th ~ Today was a 'Show & Tell" day. Show your favourite craft/art project for 2013.

Today was also a 'Give-Away" day for Luminarte.

Jan 8th ~ This morning I woke up to watch the lovely Carmen Sanchez. Carmen showed us how, when using an everyday candle you can create an amazing aged effect. Carmen showed us the technique on a small wooden box.

Jan 9th ~ This morning I woke up to watch the amazing Anna Dabrowska aka Finnabair. What can I say, except WOW. Anna is one of my most favourite artists of all time. The highlight for 2013 for me was the classes I took here, in Darwin, with her. She is a funny & amazingly talented woman.

Her video this morning was, as always, amazing. Her twist of turning it into a story was so funny, and the end product was gorgeous.

Today was also a 'Give-Away" day for StencilGirl.

Jan 10thThis morning I woke up to watch a lovely lady named Marsha Valk. Marsha Valk showed some very interesting things to do with a cardboard box. Such a different way in which to use such an ordinary, everyday thing.

Jan 11thThis morning I woke up to watch a fascinating lady named Dina Wakley. Dina showed us an amazing book, filled with many cool 'hardware' items. Today she showed us one way she uses 'joint compound', the stuff you use to finish plaster walls with. Very interesting indeed. This technique will have to wait though as we don't have any in the house at the moment.

Jan 12th ~ This morning I woke up to a lovely lady named Marjie Kemper. Marjie showed us a cool technique using masking tape and old lids and tops. I can't wait to try this one out. I'll come back and update when I get a chance to try this one out.

See you all again soon.

Weekly Round-Up for Week One ~ Including JumpStart 2014

Hi Everyone,

This week starts with my One Little Word (OLW) page. This page was inspired by Wilma's In the Mood to Scrap at TwoPeas

This is hanging in my craft space to remind me this is my goal for 2014, to finish everything that I start and hopefully to finish some of my older unfinished work as well.

The rest of the week is from my adventures with Creative JumpStart 2014 (CJS2014). There is a delay for CJS2014, they post at about midday in America, which is about 2.30 am the 'following' morning here. So I have a something waiting for me when I get up in the morning.

Jan 2nd (1st for others) ~ was a meet and greet from Nathalie and a show and tell area for all jumpers. I got my first comment on my blog, thanks Cath Sheard. I had a great time looking at a lot of the amazing Jumpers blogs, and have already had some ideas for pages off their work. Sigh, loving CJS2014 already.

Jan 3rd ~ this was the first video of CJS2014 and I woke up to the amazingly talented Julie Fie Fan Balzer. Julie  was amazing, and very inspiring. Julie used thing she found around her house, including bubble wrap, plastic cutlery and many other things on her gelli plate to create many wonderful, crazy and beautiful prints. I was so inspired that I went and created a whole heap of prints, some of which I will use on some upcoming challenges I am doing.

I pretty much love every print. There are a couple I don't like that much I will probably print over them next time I have the gelli plate out.

Jan 4th ~ I woke up this morning to a very interesting video from Nathalie. Nathalie used a squeegee, with a few tweeks, to create some amazing textures. I haven't been able to find a squeegee like her's, but I keep an eye out for a substitute next time I'm out and about.

Jan 5th ~ this morning I woke up to Suze Weinburg. Suze created an interesting home decor piece. I must say that this kind of thing really isn't me but I thought the concept was interesting, I'm still thinking about this one and if I do make something from this I will come back and update a picture here.

I also started a class at Big Picture Classes, called Inspired Scrapbooking. It started on the 3rd (for me) and I am looking forward to sharing the pages I create from this class. For now I am thinking over what I have read and watched and 'cultivating' my ideas. I'll get back to you later in the month with, hopefully, something to show you.

See you all again soon.

Inspired Scrapbooking with Big Piture Classes

Hi Everyone,

Today I started a 12 month class at Big Picture Classes, called funnily enough Inspired Scrapbooking.

Here is a quote from Stacy Julian about the ideas behind Inspired Scrapbooking,

"So what is "inspired scrapbooking"? To me, it is something that exists outside of the format you choose or the method you use. Inspired scrapbooking begins when an idea is sparked or triggered in some way. It can appear instantly or emerge gradually, but it generally requires some patience or at least some time to fully mature, and it often involves journaling that is more insightful than factual. Crafting an inspired scrapbook story is like cultivating a seed, where a nurturing environment and essential elements combine to sustain growth until the anticipated harvest of a fully ripe fruit. The effort is always rewarded with the sweet realization that you've allowed something to develop that might have otherwise been overlooked."

I am really looking forward to all this class has to offer and showing you all the results.

See you all again soon.

Love
Michelle

One Little Word 2014

Hi Everyone,

This year I have decided to use Ali Edward's OLW (One Little Word) as my inspiration for 2014, to keep me motivated, focused &  just moving throughout the year.
My word is FINISHED. I want to finish ever piece scrapbooking or card making I start, I want to finish as much of my unfinished work from last year and beyond, I want to finish (or re-start & work strongly towards completing) my weight loss journey that I began in 2012, & I want to work towards being FINISHED with stresses, sadness and feelings of unworthiness, the idea the I need to fit the mold others have created for me of the last 12 months and the last 5 years.

Here's to 2014 being a fantastic, exciting & wonderful year!
